Tan Lines (2006)
Another gay teen coming out story, this one set in Australia. However, the focus of the film is not on the gay aspect, which is almost background. The focus is on the transition from being a teen, enmeshed in one’s family drama, to being an adult and charting one’s own course. Gritty and uncompromising, with appealing characters and a sprinkling of Australian cinematic surrealism, this film definitely belongs to the 21st Century.
